Triple major in psychology, music theory and composition, and philosophy and religion. Dr. Jake was recognized as Outstanding Philosophy and Religion Student by the department chair.

A 13 year ministry as the lead pastor of the local congregation, which concluded in the summer of 2017.

Studied biblical Greek and Hebrew, systematic theology, church history, and pastoral leadership.

In this CACREP–accredited program, Dr. Jake met the educational requirements to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas.
Spring 2017
Founder & President, Daring Ventures Counseling, Coaching, and Consultation, LLC
Established a private practiced focused on treating those affected by addiction and trauma. The Daring Ventures Team has grown to include 5 master–level therapists and three recovery coaches.
Fall 2017
Founder & President, The Daring Ventures Initiative, Inc.
This 501(c)3 non–profit organization partners with other community organizations, educational institutions, churches, and similar groups to provide education and training to those affected by trauma and addiction. This non–profit has already been instrumental in a number of statewide initiatives.
2018
Advanced Training in Attachment–Based Modalities, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) & Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT)
Completed all levels of Emotion Focused Therapy Training, and began training in Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy. Finished Level II of PACT training in 2019.

Coursework included doctoral seminars in leadership, cultural and organizational change, and human development. Dr. Jake’s doctoral thesis was entitled Affect Social Neurobiology and Student Formation: A Transdisciplinary Multimethod Study
